Birth Pool Rentals

How can a pool help?

Laboring and birthing in water offers a gentle, soothing experience that many women find deeply comforting! I know I loved being in the water for my birth. The warm water helps to relax both the body and the mind, easing the intensity of contractions and creating a calming environment. Some even call it “natures epidural”, it can help ease pressures by half was my experience.  The buoyancy of the water supports the body, alleviating pressure on joints and muscles, making it easier to move and find the most comfortable positions during labor. This sense of weightlessness and freedom often allows women to feel more in control, empowering them to trust their bodies and instincts as they navigate the journey of birth.

The water also creates the opportunity for deep relaxation and reducing stress, which can help the body release oxytocin—the hormone that encourages the birthing journey to progress. The warmth of the water may soften the perineum, allowing for more stretch when needed. Many women also love the warm water to help provide a smooth and gentle transition from womb to outside world!

Yes! You are welcome to rent our pool no matter who is or isn’t in attendance.

Yes! Many women enjoy relaxing in the comfort of their own home in early labor, before heading to the hospital to deliver.  Laboring in a pool can be a great way to “set the mood” early on for a peaceful birth experience.

* Sometimes during labor and delivery, there can be large particles and debris in the pool that you might wish to remove.  A small fish net will be helpful for this – usually $1-$2 on amazon.

* A durable, waterproof floor covering can help protect the floor from splashes or puddles that might collect when the woman is getting in and out of the pool.

* It’s also handy to have a fitted sheet to cover the pool after it has been set up.  This will help keep dust and/or pet hair out while it is waiting to be used.

A disposable liner must be used with each rental and the pool must be wiped down with the provided cleaner and dried before it is put back into its bag for drop-off at our office.  Then, once we receive the pool back, we thoroughly disinfect the pool for the next family!

Very easy – and we provide instructions to make it even easier!  Set-up is as simple as inflating the pool.  Add the liner before fully inflated, then continue inflating for a tight fit.  Fill the pool with hot water, keeping in mind that it may take time to adequately fill before you want to get in, and refresh water as needed.  After you are finished using the pool, remove debris and empty water using the provided pump.  Dispose of the liner and wipe down the entire pool with our sanitizing solution.  (Set up, take down, and clean up must all be done according to our detailed instructions.)
